Friday Question: What’s your morning routine?

It’s fascinating how much a morning routine seems to tell about someone’s personality. Whether you’re a morning person or a night own, we all start our day at some point (yes, really) and we all do it differently. We thought it would be fun to write down our morning rituals.

We’ve certainly got one one element in common: it’s the love for coffee. Can’t. Do. Without. Can you find out who’s the real morning person on the team?

Yara: I’m SO not a morning person and I wake up thinking ‘is it time to be an adult again?!’ every morning. My alarm goes off at 7-something and my biological rhythm is to wake up around 8.30 / 9-ish so I’m always tired for the first part of the day. First I’ll run through my to do’s and appointments for the day and check my first e-mails. Because I’m a big snoozer – *oops*, I’m usually too late to have breakfast (although I’m totally working on that), so I’ll do a quick shower, get dressed, put some makeup on (something I won’t skip because that is my fave part of the morning). Once I’m ready, I’ll put on music that makes me happy, jump on my bike and get ready to see the lovely Chapter Friday girls and start an awesome day.

Alice: My alarm clock rings annoyingly at 6:45, I snooze for five minutes and drag myself to the gym (no joke). During ten crucial minutes, my thoughts go all over the place. From ‘God, that bloody alarm’, to ‘shall I call in sick, I’m dying’ to ‘oh, that wasn’t actually too bad after all’. I work out for an hour or so, with a dear friend who’s crazy enough to make it to the gym during these very indecent hours and survives my morning breath. I cycle back home (it’s only two minutes), treat myself to long hot shower, wake my boyfriend (he’s definitely not a morning person) and have some yogurt or overnight oats & coffee while watching the news. After that, I dress and find out how much time I’ve got left. I’ll put some make-up on if I do so, and if not, I’ll just cycle to work and my mascara will find it’s way during the day.

Emma: Alarm rings at 6:40. I snooze till 7. Take my clothes from the chair (I already sorted out what to wear yesterday’s evening) Take a long hot shower and wash my hair (every day.. I know this isn’t a good thing), jump in my clothes and dry my hair. After that, I always make time for breakfast and a hot cup of tea. At 8 I’ll grab my bags and jump on the bike which I always park in the bike garage in front of the office. It’s now 8:15 and I’m in serious need of some strong coffee. The rule I made for myself is: I may treat myself to a really good coffee (to go) every morning on Chapter Friday work days but only the first coffee of the work day. So I’m walking to a local coffee corner and take my shot of “get shit done” and walk back to the office. It’s now 8:30 and I’m ready to rumble.

So: now it’s your turn. What does your morning routine look like? Let us know in the comment section below!

I wake up at 5am. I enjoy my mornings. I enjoy the stillness of it. I feel I am more creatively in-tune with the world. I like to rise slowly and take my time. Feeling rushed sets me up for a very anxious day. When my alarm wakes me (with it’s soothing music), I head downstairs to let my dogs out and make myself a coffee or a tea. I let it cool while I take a quick shower, sipping it as I ready myself doing my makeup, hair, and getting dressed. I then go to my office and sit and ready myself for creativity to flow. If it doesn’t I take photos for my instagram (@darthclaudia) and listen to music, instead. I love my early mornings.

Ooh this sounds so good. Should do more. Enjoy the stillness of the morning!

snooze from 6.30 to 6.50, get up. Do hair and make up and get dressed. Drink coffee or ginger tea, make myself breakfast and a lunchto take with me to work. Then leave for work at 7.40! Want to teach myself to get up earlier though..

I wake up at 7am. Hair, makeup, dressed and coffee ready to walk out the door by 7:30am. I always shower the night before so I have the perfect bed head. Before I get to work, I stop at one of my favorite coffee shops to get another coffee. I’m an addict I know.

Haha, love this. My alarm goes off at 5:30 but I don’t get out of bed till 6 most mornings. I read my Bible then I shower. If I have enough time, I wear some makeup. I always have breakfast no matter what, I never skip that. After breakfast I go on my Duolingo app and practice my Turkish and French then I leave home at 7:30 for school. xx

First thing I dod when I wake up every morning is to say grace for the new day then drink a beauty drink and write a gratitude journal.

I’ve actually always been a morning person whose body would wake itself up at 6:00 or so. I’d enjoy a slow pace where I could cuddle with puppies and have a nice cup of tea with breakfast before being out the door for work by 7:30, but we just had a kid and the morning routine has not sorted itself out yet. We still don’t know if it is morning or night most of the time.

If it weren’t for the dogs, I’d lollygag at least an extra hour, my nose buried in a book. But they give me The Look, I say “Outside?” and they spring into action. Downstairs, they hurry out the door into the patio while the cats congregate for their morning tuna fix, all four of them (four? When did it get to be four?) I switch on the espresso machine (having trained Himself to load it up the night before) and fill the dogs’ bowls. Coffee ready, I trudge back upstairs to deliver a cup and a kiss to Himself and go check my email. Or should I say, go cull through my email to see if there’s anything worth looking at. Usually not.

I love to wash and clean my face first of all to wake up. And then i love to wake up very slowly with a good cup of coffee!

I’m a huge morning person! Every morning I wake up usually around 9 (I’m a waitress so I work late-night). I do my full morning skincare routine and brush my teeth as soon as I wake up, then I chug water in preparation for my beloved coffee! I pick up my apartment (because you know my boyfriend leaves his shoes in the middle of the floor, among other things..). After my apartment is nice and tidy I drink my coffee and read blogs on bloglovin’ and watch the Today show! I’m 21 but you would think I was 50, ha! I love my mornings so much!

I’m not a morning person in the slightest but morning has come to be my ‘me time’. The part of my day where I can relax, enjoy the little things and not be stressed. I love eating breakfast while reading a good book and sipping a big mug of coffee. There’s no better way to start the day!

Basically, I’m a morning person. I get out of bed at 6 a.m. and spend an hour online looking at blogs, mags, banking and Instagram. During that hour I drink coffee, eat oatmeal and drink a large glass of water. From 7 to 7:30 (when I leave home) I get dressed, make my bed and do hair, teeth and such. I have to have plenty of me time before I head out the door for work.

I wake up at 5:30, eat my breakfast and get dressed all in 30 minutes (no time for make-up). I then drive to university and endure an hour and a half of early morning traffic. I also consume a strong cup of coffee in the morning to keep me going :)

You guys wake up crazily early! I don’t get out of bed until 10:30… even though I know I should because I’d get so much more done!
