It’s fascinating how much a morning routine seems to tell about someone’s personality. Whether you’re a morning person or a night own, we all start our day at some point (yes, really) and we all do it differently. We thought it would be fun to write down our morning rituals.
We’ve certainly got one one element in common: it’s the love for coffee. Can’t. Do. Without. Can you find out who’s the real morning person on the team?
Yara: I’m SO not a morning person and I wake up thinking ‘is it time to be an adult again?!’ every morning. My alarm goes off at 7-something and my biological rhythm is to wake up around 8.30 / 9-ish so I’m always tired for the first part of the day. First I’ll run through my to do’s and appointments for the day and check my first e-mails. Because I’m a big snoozer – *oops*, I’m usually too late to have breakfast (although I’m totally working on that), so I’ll do a quick shower, get dressed, put some makeup on (something I won’t skip because that is my fave part of the morning). Once I’m ready, I’ll put on music that makes me happy, jump on my bike and get ready to see the lovely Chapter Friday girls and start an awesome day.
Alice: My alarm clock rings annoyingly at 6:45, I snooze for five minutes and drag myself to the gym (no joke). During ten crucial minutes, my thoughts go all over the place. From ‘God, that bloody alarm’, to ‘shall I call in sick, I’m dying’ to ‘oh, that wasn’t actually too bad after all’. I work out for an hour or so, with a dear friend who’s crazy enough to make it to the gym during these very indecent hours and survives my morning breath. I cycle back home (it’s only two minutes), treat myself to long hot shower, wake my boyfriend (he’s definitely not a morning person) and have some yogurt or overnight oats & coffee while watching the news. After that, I dress and find out how much time I’ve got left. I’ll put some make-up on if I do so, and if not, I’ll just cycle to work and my mascara will find it’s way during the day.
Emma: Alarm rings at 6:40. I snooze till 7. Take my clothes from the chair (I already sorted out what to wear yesterday’s evening) Take a long hot shower and wash my hair (every day.. I know this isn’t a good thing), jump in my clothes and dry my hair. After that, I always make time for breakfast and a hot cup of tea. At 8 I’ll grab my bags and jump on the bike which I always park in the bike garage in front of the office. It’s now 8:15 and I’m in serious need of some strong coffee. The rule I made for myself is: I may treat myself to a really good coffee (to go) every morning on Chapter Friday work days but only the first coffee of the work day. So I’m walking to a local coffee corner and take my shot of “get shit done” and walk back to the office. It’s now 8:30 and I’m ready to rumble.
So: now it’s your turn. What does your morning routine look like? Let us know in the comment section below!
