Who is who: streetstyle icons
julia

If you get your daily dose of fashion inspiration from street style photos (just like we did here with Hanneli Mustaparta, on fashion rules to break and the Pop art trend), you have probably seen these ladies before. There are a few stunning women that always seem to pop up at every fashion week, looking absolutely gorgeous. You’ve probably spotted them on street style blogs, yet you don’t know exactly who they exactly are or what they do.

While we probably all know French Vogue’s former editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld and current editor-in-chief Emanuelle Alt, we’re shifting focus on a few other women this time. Because there are many inspirational women in fashion that we can learn from. So let us introduce you to fashions finest.

Who? JULIA SARR JAMOIS
What does she do? Freelance fashion editor and stylist (contributor to i-D magazine)
Where can you find her? On the streets in Londen and Paris

Bright colors, signature sunglasses and a statement hairdo that would make look even the dullest person look instantly cool. Julia is regularly featured in best dress lists and is known for her accurate sense of fashion. This creative is half Senegalese and half French and almost never uses make up. In an interview with Vogue, she tells us why: ‘I’ve never really been into makeup. My hair is my statement, along with my clothes. I love prints and colors and texture. I like to have a bit of fun with what I’m wearing and not be too serious. I guess it’s the same with my hair.’

Who? VIVIANA VOLPICELLA
What does she do? Assistant Fashion Editor at Vogue Brasil and Stylist
Where can you find her? On the streets in Milan and Paris

To say Viviana’s style is colourful would be an understatement. Viviana covers herself in the most outstanding designer clothes, ranging from boldly coloured suits to dresses with all over prints (do you get that beachy feel already from seeing these pics?). She surely isn’t afraid to mix and match. Besides her work for Vogue, Viviana is a stylist too, so it’s no wonder why she’s always groomed to perfection.

Who? CAPUCINE SAFYURTLU
What does she do? Fashion & Market Editor at Vogue Paris
Where can you find her? On the streets in Paris

This is a woman you have definitely seen before - you probably just didn’t know it was Capucine. Capucine Safyurtlu is the woman that is always standing or walking next to Emanuelle Alt in photos (ah, see, now you recognize her!). But Capucine deserves a little spotlight of her own. Her classic, modern French style is something that we definitely envy her for – and we’ve probably tried to copy her effortless looks at the office a hundred times already. With a wardrobe consisting of the best investment pieces - from perfectly fitted jackets to simple loose fit tees to the most gorgeous furry coats and envying pointy heels – what’s not to love?

Who? LINDA TOL
What does she do? Online influential, trendwatcher and owner of Lindatol.com
Where can you find her? On the streets of Milan, but actually at every fashion week (wether it’s in Amsterdam or Paris she’s there!)

Having been featured in big magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Glamour, it’s safe to say Linda is a woman to watch. In 2011, Linda Tol (also a dear friend of Yara’s) set foot in the fashion scene and since then she’s gotten loads and loads of media attention. Her remarkable style simply doesn’t go unnoticed. Linda’s style can be described as boyish and androgyn, but at the same time she’s sparkling in bold colours and prints. And that hair! It never stops evolving!

Who? GIORGIA TORDINI
What does she do? Creative director at Reve and Like My Mother and blogger at Grazia.it
Where can you find her? On the streets of Milan and New York

If anything, Giorgia is an all-round creative. The Italian beauty is a busy bee - being creative director of two fashion brands and a blogger. Next to that, she’s one of the most influential style icons from Milan. Together with her sister, Giulia, the Tordini sisters attrack every photographers’ eye. Giorgia’s simple, slightly masculine style is why we’re girl crushing on her. She’s often spotted in black and turns her classic looks into Parisian-chic-meets-grungy.

Who? YASMIN SEWELL
What does she do? Fashion buyer
Where can you find her? On the streets of London and Paris

Who doesn’t love Yasmin Sewell? Her short, playful, curly locks, her striking looks and her gorgeous smile – she gets to us every time. As a buyer, Yasmin knows where to put her money at. She used to stock up the best fashion brands in her store in London and her eye for quality and stunning fabrics quickly translated into her own style. If you spot her, she’ll be rocking two piece ensembles (that always seem to have twist) on the streets of Paris like no other. Whether it’s because of a cool orange colored jacket or a magnificent printed blouse, she knows how to combine only the best of the best.

Do you have a street style icon you like to copy?
