Random beauty facts (you probably didn’t know yet)

Day in day out, you smear liters of make up on your face. And with that, questions like ‘How much money do I actually spend on lipstick in my entire life?’ and ‘Did anyone ever poke their mascara wand in their eye, just like I did this morning?’ pop up. We took it upon ourselves to find out a little more about make up in general and found these ten fun facts.

Fact #1
Maybelline Great Lash (around six euro’s), arguably the most recognizable and highest rated mascara of all time, was introduced in 1971. Over 40 years later, the iconic green and pink packaging still remains.

Fact #2
Blondes have more hair (and fun?). While brunettes have an average of 110.000 hairs on their head, blondes have an average of 140.000. Luck you!

Fact #3
Your left side is prettier than your right side. You know how people always say: This is my good side. Well, apparently it’s the same for everybody.

Fact #4
The reason most women instinctively open their mouths when applying mascara? It’s actually easier not to blink when your mouth is open.

Fact #5
The most common makeup-related injury is scratching the eye with a mascara wand (story of our lives).

Fact #6
The average woman will spend about 12.000 euro’s on make up in her lifetime.

Fact #7
That’s 2.500 euro’s on eyeshadow. And around 1.200 euro’s on lipstick.

Fact #8
It wasn’t until 1920 when Coco Chanel was on a cruise to the French Riviera and accidentally got sun burned that tans started to become popular.

Fact #9
Many mascaras are made with an ingredient called guanine. The colorant is derived from fish scales—that’s what gives mascara its shine.

Fact #10
Flax seed oil makes your lashes fuller and longer. Just put a little oil on your lashes before going to bed and the next day you won’t need a curler anymore ;)
