Not all of us have the luxury of owning an apartment big enough to create a separate office. But - being an entrepreneur or blogger - it’s nice to have a small workspace to make your space of productivity. So here’s a few tips on how to create a small workplace in an even smaller apartment. Let’s do this!

Divide your workplace from your living space
Put something, like a closet, in between your workspace and your living space. It helps when your work life is separated from your private life, even if it’s just by a closet ;).

Try to find a suiting table
If there’s a little vacant corner in your room, find a table that fits in there. It might be a small sidetable or a desk that you can put against the wall. Use the space as efficiently as possible. There doesn’t have to be much space, as long as there’s a desk (in a good height to prevent dealing with RSI!).

Make sure to have everything at hand
Whether you add a closet or a few shelves to your work space, make sure that you have everything you need at hand. This can go from folders with important papers to notebooks to your laptop and chargers. Put everything on the shelves, in the closet behind you or on your desk (in a little container, a smart tip by interior blogger Elisah).

If you really don’t have the space to add a desk, you can also of course work from your dining table. Just make sure to clean your desk (a.k.a. put everything in a box to the left) at the end of the working day. This way you’ll keep things in place.

Does your job require to work from home often?

I’ve had to adjust to a small working space since I started working at home. I made a mini-office out of a pantry! I use the refrigerator as a magnet board! Check it out:

I adore cute workplaces. I am moving into a small apartment soon and love these ideas. Thanks for this. :)

I adore these workspaces - I am very fortunate to have an average work space but I don’t get much done in that space because I am a hoarder and I find it difficult to organise what I want to keep! Going to use these images as inspiration for a more minimal space, thank you! x

Lovely photos of how to get the most from a limited space so one can work most efficiently. Great ideas shown here. Pleased I checked out this post of your blog. If every post is as helpful as this one your blog is beyond awesome. Love how the pieces are so neatly placed and therefore freeing up more space,.

I just created a home office in my NYC studio apartment this weekend! Perfect timing. I’m hoping to share my office on my own blog soon. Great tips!

I love this tiny little pieces of heaven but I think it’s impossible to do it on my room >.<

looks lovely but would really suggest an adjustable chair - especially if you are at the desk a lot. Health and safety applies in the home office just as in any working envirnment

So cool ideas, love the third one!

I’m still a student but I always find myself in chaos when deciding to work at home as my desk is stuffed with loads of things. These desks in these pictures are all clean and tidy yet look unexpectedly gorgeous, so I’m thinking about reorganizing my work & study place. Thanks for the inspiration! A student’s life can be hard too…

I really like this idea a lot. Especially, all the black and white contrast gives it the impression of a “real extra room”.

Fantastic blogpost and very inspiring! I am trying to make a small space so I can do some chinese brush painting - I have a table but I am still trying to find where I can put some storage! Ahh the challenges of living in small areas!

    Now following you on Bloglovin’!

    Em :)

Thank you, very inspiring. I am creating a little writing corner in my shoe box of a London flat and looking for ideas. Loved the third pic of a rustic look…

    How inspiring!

so pleased to see these pics…

totally not in love with my ‘work space’ at the moment. I feel that when I’ve finished working I just want to ‘leave’ the room and get out of work mode so never like hanging around to sort it out or make it how I want it.

i need to get the music on and sort this place out as I want it to look like these ones !

    :)

    Prachtige inspiratie! <3

I have the luxury of not being trapped to an office or even a particular place of work as I am a PhD-student concerned with primarily theoretical topics. Usually I work from the department, but a few days a week I work from home. Mainly to save time on transportation. I’ll much rather pick my son earlier than sit in a bus :)

I am obsessed with these pictures. I would love to make my room look like this. x
