My neighborhood part 2: Kelly’s guide through Amsterdam’s Bos & Lommer

From West to East and back again! This month, we’re taking you on a trip through our Amsterdam neighbourhoods. The places we eat stacks of pancakes, where we go for a red wine, sit down with our laptop and where we spend a typical Sunday. After Emma, the second one from the CHAPTER FRIDAY team to take you on a bike ride is Kelly, who will be guiding you through the West of Amsterdam, to Bos & Lommer and De Baarsjes to be exact!

Kelly: “To make the most of your time in Amsterdam, I’ll take you away from the guidebooks to my favorite local haunts. Needless to say, I love this city. The west side of town is a bit more quiet and less touristy perfect for a relaxed stroll. This is how I like to spend my free time close to home!”

Rotisserie at Bilderdijkstraat 165 F
“For the best burger in town, go to Rotisserie. For an evening out with your girls or a casual night out with the BF, it’s all good. The cocktails are great, but nothing beats the Rotisseur.”

Happyhappyjoyjoy at Bilderdijkstraat 158
“This place is hot and happening right now, so make sure to make a reservation for the evening. Share some Asian street food (pai huan gua! dumplings! tempura everything!) from Japan to South-Korea, gaze at the ceiling, and try one of the funky Japanese sodas.”

Radijs at Jan Evertsenstraat 41HS
“The best staff in Amsterdam and their latte macchiato is beyond comparison. My #1 Sunday Brunchday spot. Up for another round of coffee? Try Whitelabel Coffee nearby.”

Richenel’s Patisserie at Mercatorplein 7
“The expert to go for the best handmade macarons with a healthy twist. Every season five new flavours are being developed with both sweet and savory editions. Nomnomnom!”

Coffee Room at Kinkerstraat 110
“My second living room to sit down for a good latte, egg sandwich and relaxed atmosphere or to tackle a deadline. With a well-working internet connection (lots of places state they have wifi, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s always working…) that’s never a problem. I’m a fan of their bar service and the friendly staff.”

TITS at De Clercqstraat 78III
“This shop is the shit, hence the name! Not only a good shop to pick up some dainty earrings, but also for unique brands like The Side Party and Lazy Oaf. And, it’s the only independant Dutch Skinnydip stockist!”

MISC at De Clercqstraat 130
“I simply cannot leave this shop empty handed. Paper lovers, gather ’round, because Miscellaneous has super stylish refined goods for the home and desk.”

Wildernis at Bilderdijkstraat 165 F
“Probably one of the most instagrammed shops in the hood. This urban jungle is a stop-over for everyone who likes greens (hanging from the ceiling). Whenever you’re around and in the mood for exploring, Balkonie is also a super cute shops full of plants (Jan Evertsenstraat 90H).”

Filmhallen at Hannie Dankbaarpassage 12
“Films, food and fun, all at one location. When you want to do more than only watching a movie, the Foodhallen serve all kinds of different food – from Korean to French and everything in between. Too crowded? Very near here and just as good: The Breakfast Club, Spaghetteria, Hendrix and Bar Brouw. Or stop by at Stach (Admiraal de Ruijterweg 77) for a croissant. The options are endless!”

Next up: cruising the westside of Amsterdam with Yara!
