Bring on the Holiday season! Our ingredients for an awesome pajama party
CHAPTER FRIDAY

As a little girl, if you’d asked me what my best possible birthday party would be, a pajama party is what I would have replied. The ultimate experience had to be sleeping in the living room, getting hyped up on candy and chatting endlessly with girlfriends about what other ten-year-olds we fancied.

PJ’s, snacks, boys: not much has changed since that and these cozy photos I took with Lizzy at the stunning new apartments-for-rent at Maison de Canteclaer are living proof. (On that topic: they’re a huge tip if you’re looking for a cool and central place to stay in Amsterdam!). We’ve put together a checklist for your Holiday sleepovers with friends, or just any fun night in on the weekend.

1. Transform your living room into a giant fort
To make your room feel like a queenside bed with no beginning and no end, collect all available mattresses, blankets and colorful pillows. Cozy the space up with a little light banner or string of lights, cute rugs or scented candles. For the true pros out there: set up a tent or make a teepee (we love this DIY).

2. Get matching PJ’s and slippers
Make sure to match sleeping outfits with the rest of your girl gang. #girlsquad! Lizzy and I are both leopard print fanatics so we opted for matching fluffy UGG slippers. Honestly, these are like walking on clouds! Not a pajama type? A soft, jersey maxi dress will do!

3. Set up a snack station
Snacks are key to making this an epic event. A night like this is not complete without the right comfort foods. Our tip? Set up a snack station on a table, with bite-sized pizza’s, bread or veggies and dips, chips and salsa and guacamole, popcorn in traditional popcorn boxes (just Google those and you’ll find a ton of places to order them for a few bucks). On the sweet side we’d suggest; cinnamon buns, bite-sized donuts, chocolate chip waffles and sea salt caramel chocolate bars… We could go on forever.

4. Select a ton of movie classics
Bring on the nineties rom-coms! When settled and cozied up - snacks, drinks, fashion twins within arm’s length reach - get ready to hit the ‘play’ button. A movie marathon is no movie marathon without getting a little nostalgic. Faves are Clueless, Titanic, Ten things I hate about you, Pretty Woman - or slightly more recent classics like Mean Girls, Juno or Bridesmaids.

5. Get a photo moment
Sure, a selfie will do, but if you’ve finally got a group of friends together, why not make the memories last? If you’ve got something to celebrate (which could just be that you’ve find the perfect guac to go with your chips, or bougth a new pyjama for this), create a DIY photo booth with glittery wallpaper in the background, download the Boomerang app for making short clips, or ask one of your friends to bring in a polaroid camera. Slumber party on!

For New Year’s Eve, me and Kim are thinking of doing just this. Put on fancy PJ’s, bring in every possible form of junk food, drink champagne and hang out the window for fireworks; then return to our in-home cinema. Are you planning any girls nights for the Holidays?
