They always say that you should learn from the best, so why don’t you? In the blogging world that is easy, because there is so much information out there in the open - which can also be intimidating. Keep in mind that posting high-quality pictures and writing witty and smart about your daily adventures takes practice and doesn’t come easy. So why not take advice from the best in the business, and take it from there?
Here are six blogging tips from bloggers who’ve earned their following with lots of hard work behind their lens and screen:Photo via: The Man Repeller
The Man Repeller
Leandra Medine repels man for a living, and she is one of the most creative bloggers out there. Her style is outspoken and always evolving and her writing is as good as it is humorous. Oh, and this is the lady who invented the hashtag #armparty. Need we say more?
Her major tip: don’t dumb down, you’re the one setting trends
Leandra: ”Stacy London [the fashion consultant and a co-host of TLC’s What Not to Wear] actually said something really interesting to me: she said she was so impressed by the headier and smarter thought pieces I’d been doing, and I said I appreciated that, that I felt like my readers wanted me to shut up and just show them pictures. She was like, “Don’t dumb down for them. You are setting the trends. You need them to rise to your level.” But then again, it’s, like, the difference between kale and chocolate. If you’re hungry, you’re going for the chocolate, even though you know the kale is better for you.”

Mija
Mirjam Flatau is a German wanderer living in London. With her minimal, fun and creative style, she conquered the fashion world. The next step? A ticket to California, that she undoubtedly will take by storm too.
Her major tip: show attention to detail when shooting flat lays
Mija: ”Find the perfect underground like a concrete or plain white floor or a marble or wooden table. The background should be clean and fuzz-free. Light is the most important thing! Use natural light or flashlight for your flat lays and the lighter the better. Try to shoot flat lays directly from above, this is more attractive for the eye. Add something personal that makes the picture unique like a book, polaroid or some flowers. And if you don’t like the color of your pic use programs like VSCO to change color, light or sharpness.”

Design Love Fest
This blog is run by the lovely Bri Emery. She not only posts great pictures that help you dress your tech, she also has great taste in interior and a wonderful eye for combining text with images. On her lifestyle blog you’ll find her recognizable aesthetic in everything she does: DIY, food, travel and more.
Her major tip: keep your voice
Bri: ”Be genuine when talking to people through social media. Don’t spam your readers and only post things you believe in. (Sometimes I get emails from companies asking me to retweet their tweet for $50 bucks. No, I am not going to tell my readers to buy your vacuum cleaner. It’s not my voice and doesn’t align with my blog. Keep your brand in mind always).”
Park & Cube
This Christian lady grew up in Poland, but now travels the whole world. Shini Park’s favourite destination is the Maldives, and on her Instagram feed you’ll find the prettiest flat lays and scenery posts, in which she showcases her elegant outfits. Oh, and her DIY’s are pretty amazing: these beach shorts are the bomb!
Her major tip: use different social platforms
Shini: “I always use Snapseed and PS Touch. I look to Pinterest for style inspiration, and Depop is great for pulling together a holiday wardrobe. If you’re having a lot of fun, you’re kind of going to ruin your beach cover-ups, but Depop is so cheap, and seasonal as well.”

Thrifts and Threads
The lovely lady behind this blog is called Brittany. She began her blog to highlight thrift and vintage finds as well as items she found at her favourite retail stores: she loves to mix and match non-label pieces with labels or wear none at all.
Her major tip: do not buy Instagram followers
Brittany: ”It will only hurt you long-term. I can spot when someone buys or has purchased followers right away… and you can also tell the ones that are buying likes. There’s really no point in faking your following- especially when you need the engagement to continue to grow. Fake followers don’t help your brand, they only make you feel like you need to keep up appearances. Growing organically is much more strategic and even though you will have a slower start than the person who purchased 5k or 10k to look better, your engagement and readers will be real- that’s what you want!”

Zanita
With her cute blond bob, legs for days and the eyes of a supermodel that has just wandered out of the nineties. Zanita Whitting is pretty as a picture, but her stunning photographs are not the only reason she is worth the follow: she writes honest and interesting articles (for example about her modeling career) and she offers great courses about blogging on her website.
Her major tip: always keep your eyes open
Zanita: “I guess blogging is really about being aware – so whenever you think ‘Oh wow, isn’t that beautiful?’ you’re ready to take a snap and share that memory. I think it takes quite a bit of practise and tenacity to create good content, you really need to think of work when you’re travelling to collect a really beautiful story. It’s a lot easier if you’re passionate and excited about it – so considering the rewards of sharing is a great motivator.”
Great post! I think you guys do exactly what Leandra said, not dumbing down. I love the content of the blog and that i can always learn something new when i read your posts. Even though I’m not a blogger, I really enjoy reading the Blog Class tag.

These are great tips. I sometimes wonder how some of the big time bloggers get so big and seems that they have genuine followers. I think its so hard to come by these days when brands just want to know your stats.
So true. Many thanks for sharing this tips with us, they really are useful. I do think that personality is the most important, it makes you stand out of the crowd.
Picture quality is very important, indeed, but nowadays almost anybody can buy a camera, so you need to be more creative and dedicated than others in order to succeed.
And MUST have patience. I would love to get thousands of followers and greater visibility, but I’d never buy them. I want real engagement, and I know this takes time.
Kisses,

Thank you for sharing this! I think what makes these bloggers successful is that they have a really unique personality which makes their readers come back. I’m a constant reader of Leandra and Shini. They’re equally smart and witty women, but they have this something that keeps them unique!
