As a small elevator took me to the top floor of an industrial building in Amsterdam I knew: this would be one of those unforgettable parties. Last week I conveniently forgot that Friday is a work day, and spent the night celebrating the Benelux launch of i-D magazine online.
i-D is the edgy and playful fashion magazine we all know and love for it’s winking cover models. Fashion was the key word of the evening, as the event also featured my favorite Amsterdammians (is that a word?) dressed in the Diesel SS14 collection.
We were all connected through Diesel – I spotted their signature denim everywhere – and if you’d put us all together, I imagine it would even have made a pretty cool add. As a special guest of Diesel that night, I did a little shopping prior to the party and got dressed in this soft deep blue dress with a split that Angelina Jolie would definitely approve of.
One of those nights…
Somehow it seemed like everyone was there and I kept bumping in to friends and creative industry insiders that I’ve worked with over the years. From innovative photographers to talented stylists and underground musicians. It was one big, happy, stylish, creative hub involving gin tonics. Many, many gin tonics.
Perhaps it was those drinks or maybe our spring hormones kicked in; it seemed like everyone was in a great and carefree mood and we danced the night away. I’ll have to pick up the next issue of i-D and read it at home in that super soft maxi dress, as a reminder of the fun we had together.
